Manage Your Day-To-Day: Build your Routine, Find your Focus and Sharpen your Creative Mind- Chapter Two- Learning to Create Amid Chaos

Chapter Two-  Finding Focus in a Distracted World- Scheduling in Time for Creative Thinking A famous quote once said; "Creation is in part merely the business of forgoing the great and small distractions." -E.B White Learning to Create Amid Chaos There is no perfect time to be productive - waiting for the perfect time is almost always procrastination. Most creative people have jobs, commitments, family's etc so in order to be creative we must learn to be productive in the mist of chaos. Moving to somewhere without distractions is almost impossible - even if we could they will come with us. It is possible to combat negative distractions with good distractions. Setting a timer and racing the clock can be very good positive distraction. Ignoring negative distractions to focus on preferred activity takes mental agility and energy. Roy Baumeister discovered that self control is not genetic or fixed but is a skill that can be developed and improved with prac...

Manage Your Day-To-Day: Build your Routine, Find your Focus and Sharpen your Creative Mind- Chapter Two- Understanding Our Compulsions

Chapter Two-  Finding Focus in a Distracted World- Scheduling in Time for Creative Thinking A famous quote once said; "The most basic form of human stupidity is forgetting what we are trying to accomplish." -Friedrich Nietzsche Understanding Our Compulsions We have a tendency to complete tasks that don't require much thought but that can be done quickly giving us a sense of achievement. Checking emails, Facebook, YouTube frequently is exciting because on the odd occasion something interesting is there- in order to receive this one random exciting thing we are prepared to contentiously check these social media. If you put the following 3 things together they produce disaster :- world around us tempting us, listening to the world around us and poor ability to deal with temptation. Our most productive time is between 8am-11am so not opening emails during this time would increase productivity. 40% of bad decisions leads to death eg. obesity, smoking, ...

Wire frames-MED330

Image
Wire framing is a way to design a website service without having to do the code side of the work. A wire frame is usually used to lay out what content will go where on the website and also the functionality of the pages which takes into account the users needs and user journey. The idea of wire frames is to establish the basic structure of a page before visual design and content is added on to it. A few advantages of doing a wire frame is that it provides an early visual that can be used to review with the client. The user can also review it as an early feedback mechanism for prototype usability tests. Once a client has reviewed a wire frame with the designer and has approved it the designer has confidence that the client will like the final outcome of the product that they have made.

Chapter Two-  Finding Focus in a Distracted World- Scheduling in Time for Creative Thinking A famous quote once said; "It is not enough to be busy, (the ants are busy) we must ask: 'What are we busy about?'" -Henry David Thoreau Scheduling in Time for Creative Thinking and Banishing Multitasking from Our Repertoire  More information takes our attention. There are lots of temptations wanting our attention. We need to look at each day as an opportunity to keep our eye on the prize. Email technology is on the increase- some argue detrimentally; others argue they have benefit. Mark some scheduled time on your calendar- use this time to be creative to produce your best work. Do not let yourself become distracted- no internet, no phone and no emails. Start with scheduling out 1 hour of time then increase this by 15 minutes every two weeks. If you become distracted and give in to it then cancel the whole block and try later. Do not allow the brain to think t...
